Dear Lucy,
for the past 2 days i've been getting an itchy/burning sensation on my vagina which is really uncomfortable at times. it doesn't burn when i pee but when i try wash my vagina with soap it started burning really bad and it was really painful. afterwards, i checked it on a mirror and i found that i have red bumpy blisters on the opening of my vagina and also found that i have a ton of white lumpy discharge. is it an sti (herpes?) and should i get it checked?

This, my dear, sounds very much like a yeast infection. You should get yourself to the doctor ASAP to be sure, especially if you’ve never had ol’ yeasty come to town before now. But there is certainly no need for alarm- yeast infections are obnoxious and very uncomfortable, but they are indeed treatable.

Best of luck,
Xoxo, Lucy
